About

Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Epsilon Sigma Chapter joined 1000's other volunteers at the 1st Annual "One Day of Service" on Saturday, May 21st, 2022. The Seattle Sigmas tackled gardens and plant beds at Hutchinson Playground in the Skyway neighborhood of Seattle.

Working alongside City Leaders such as Dwane Chappelle from the Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning and #ChristopherWilliams of Seattle Parks and Recreation and many community volunteers, the chapter helped to move over 5 yards of wood chips in the restoration of the plant beds.

"Service is what we do!", said chapter President, Chukundi Salisbury. "We believe that Mayor Bruce Harrell chose Blue & White as the colors for the #OneSeattle shirts with Phi Beta Sigma in Mind! This deep conviction is mirrored in our fraternity motto, "Culture For Service and Service For Humanity."

The One Seattle Day of Service featured over 2,200 volunteer opportunities across more than 80 different activities throughout all seven City Council Districts. Projects included cleaning and beautification, Gardening and restoration, and Helping neighbors in need.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service.
