Regional Initiatives

The Movember initiative began in 2012. The idea developed by two Bros. Maurice Gibbs of Epsilon Psi Sigma Chapter | Las Vegas, NV and Bro. Dr. Michael Baslee of Phyi Beta Sigma Chapter | Los Angeles, CA. It began as a regional program but but has received national support.

Sigma Cares

In 2014, Phi Beta Sigma created an initiative entitled Sigma Cares to support and reach out to the membership in more meaningful ways. The goal of this new initiative was to let brothers know that they have the support and love of “The Brotherhood”, in times of need and of celebration.

Education

The basis of the Education program lies in the traditional emphasis that the Fraternity places on education. During the 1945 Conclave in St. Louis, Missouri, the Fraternity underwent a constitution restructuring which led to the birth of education as an international program.

Formed in 1934, the Social Action program was conceived by Bro. Elmo M. Anderson to focus on improving the general well-being of disenfranchised people.

Bigger & Better Business

Bigger and Better Business became the first national program of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. It was first introduced at the Tenth Anniversary Conclave, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (December 1924).

SINCE 1968

Seattle Sigmas

In early 1968, Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc came together in Seattle, Washington to discuss the need for an Alumni Chapter presence in the Northwest. It was determined that Sigma was needed in the Seattle community to stand as an example of Service. Sigmas were also needed to service as positive male role models to the youth of the Seattle area.
